Kalnik has a geological specificity because it was formed on a boundary of two tectonic plates, the southern, which belongs to the Dinarides, and the northern, which belongs to the Alps.

That is how an imposingly big rocky mass was formed on a relatively low above-sea level.

The height of the rocks varies from 10 to 15 meters and they are ideal for sport climbing.

Around Stari grad (the Old Town), about a hundred climbing routes of various difficulty levels have been set.

All the routes are secured by 10mm spits, and the stands are secured with two spits and a chain each.

A tabular presentation with the list of the routes can be found on THIS LINK

Soon, a map with the positions of routes will be available.
